...when I was in 1st grade, my art teacher (Mr. Yamamoto) came into our class and stated that the winner of the painting contest was...ME! (was there a painting contest?) I didn't even know or wasn't paying attention, as usual, but here I was the winner. He said He loved my landscape...especially the birds flying over the mountain ( they were black "W's"...lot's of them.) My painting was hung in all its glory in Sacajawea Elementary School's main office, just outside the principle's door...."I would like to thank all the little people..."
I went to a nearby college in the Pacific Northwest and studied art and music, but chose marriage and family over other careers, and dove head first into motherhood. I put Art on the shelf until around 1995, when I began taking a watercolor class. My art career seemed to be off to a good start, but was interrupted by a few "life roadblocks". I stopped painting for a long stretch...I call it the dark ages. And as life would have it, just when I wasn't paying attention, painting has come back into my life like "W's" flying over the mountain....a gift from above. Today, I am into painting with oils...loving every minute. I hope you enjoy my work. If I know you are watching...I'll keep painting.

Awesome talk. I completely agree with her. I want to remember this when the beasty voices start shrieking too loudly...
I miss you Neisy!
